Prepare your skin before summer. Cosmetics, antioxidants and beauty tricks

Summer is approaching very fast. So it’s time to take care of the proper protection and care of the skin. Give it a chance to get a good tan and give your body the right dose of antioxidants and hydration.

Is the sun harmful to our body?

Yes and no. Thanks to the sun, vitamin D is produced, which affects the proper functioning of the entire human body. On the other hand, it can cause irreversible changes in the structure of the skin and tissues. By the action of the sun:

  • the skin thickens faster and becomes less elastic;
  • the epidermis becomes more and more callous;
  • discolouration appears on the skin;
  • blood vessels of the skin are damaged;
  • wrinkles deepen.

Did you know that solar radiation is the strongest between 10 am and 4 pm, from May to August, in the mountains and near the equator?

Is the sun only threatening us in the summer?

Unfortunately not. There are also free radicals, ie molecules or atoms that react with cell membranes, lipids, DNA, skin cells and the whole organism. In order to stop the changes that are caused by free radicals, appropriate protection and antioxidants, enzymes and microelements should be implemented.

Antioxidants vs free radicals

Two systems present in our body are responsible for fighting free radicals. For the proper functioning of the first one, you need selenium, copper, iron, zinc and manganese. For the second system to work properly, you need antioxidants, such as: coenzyme Q10, tocopherol, vitamins A and C, and bioflavonoids.

How to prepare the skin for the summer to fight free radicals?

In addition to the aforementioned vitamins, micronutrients and substances, it is also worth using appropriate external care. Procedures using ferulic or lactic acid will be a good choice. Needle mesotherapy and ultrasounds will also be useful. And when you leave the house or go on holiday, you cannot forget about sunscreen creams, sunglasses and appropriate clothing.
